Raymond Yu
Class of 2025
"At Georgetown, I am excited to continue my academic journey and further my understanding of the history and socioeconomics of the Indo-Pacific with a focus on US-China trade and security issues. After MAISA, I aim to pursue a public service profession in the cross-section of international affairs and the Chinese language as a foreign service officer or intelligence analyst. In doing so, I hope to help the US compete with our geopolitical competitor while simultaneously building trust and avoiding conflict. As an Asian American of Chinese descent, I worry that as America drifts into a Second Cold War, our foreign policy may domestically impact our citizens. I want to study under professors who have experience in both government and academia, so in the long run, they can guide me in future job prospects working in government or consulting. My career goal is to work either in the public or private sector to liaison between the United States and China. "
