"My interest in Asia is motivated partly by my personal experiences growing up in Hong Kong at a time of rapid socio-economic-political change, and partly by my academic experiences studying democracy, class, and political behavior in US and comparative contexts. As a Hong Konger in the United States, I maintained a strong interest in comparing political & sociological phenomena across different regions. At MASIA, I hope to deepen my knowledge of Asia's developing democracies (particularly those in Southeast Asia), hone my research skills (particularly quantitative research skills), and improve my Mandarin."
