"My mandatory military service at the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) for the Republic of Korea Army was a pivotal moment in my life. Facing the challenges and difficulties in a military-intense environment, I realized the necessity of regional peace. This experience made me focus my primary study interest on the Korean Peninsula's security affairs, especially, inter-Korean relations, nuclear issues in the Korean Peninsula, and Korean reunification. Moreover, my interest extends to security issues in Northeast Asia such as ROK-Japan-US relations, and US-China relations. I am eager to delve deeper into these subjects at Georgetown University and develop my understanding of theories, analytical skills, and practical insights. In the long run, I aspire to be a scholar with practical experience. I plan to pursue a Ph.D. degree and have experience in think tanks and government sectors."
