Howard Cheng-Hao Shen
Class of 2025
Howard is an MA candidate in Asian Studies and an International Business Diplomacy Certificate candidate at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He is Assistant Director of International Affairs for the Kuomintang (KMT). He previously served as Foreign Press Secretary for the KMT’s Hou Yu-Ih 2024 presidential campaign, Deputy Director of the KMT Representative Office in the United States, and Deputy Leader of the KMT Youth League.
His main professional interests lie in Washington-Beijing-Taipei relations and politics; ROC (Taiwan) foreign, mainland, and defense policy; and Indo-Pacific security. Outside of the KMT, he interned at the ROC Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau Cross-Strait Division; held a foreign policy fellowship at the ROC Legislative Yuan; and was a Markets and Finance intern at Trivium China, a DC-based China policy strategic advisory firm. He has appeared on The Economist and TaiwanPlus. His writing has been published in The Diplomat and Taipei Times.
He graduated Cum Laude from Sciences Po Paris for his Bachelor’s degree in European-North American comparative government and foreign policy. He was Assistant Coach for the U10 and U12 teams of the Reims Baseball Club in Reims, France.
