Nicola McHugh
Class of 2025
"From an early age, I have been fascinated by the culture of East Asia. This interest has evolved into a focus on the role technology plays in political relations between China and other East Asian countries. At Georgetown, I hope to continue researching the impact of technological development on China’s foreign policy and relations with other countries, particularly against the backdrop of increased tension between China and the West. I am also excited by the opportunity to continue to advance my Chinese language skills. I look forward to exchanging ideas with my professors and classmates who are equally passionate about the role Asia plays on the increasingly complex international arena. Following my graduation, I plan to pursue a career in federal service at the Department of State where I am especially interested in focusing on promoting mutual understanding between the US and China.
