"I was drawn to Asian Studies as an academic discipline after two year long study abroad experiences in high school, one in Thailand and one in China through the NSLI-Y scholarship.Originally from Portland, Oregon, I attended college in Minnesota at St.Olaf college. At St.Olaf, I majored in Chinese and Asian Studies and continued to study Chinese in Xi’an, Beijing and Shanghai through the CLS, Gilman and Boren scholarships. I also returned to Thailand in the summer of 2019 where I was a State Department intern in the Regional Security Office at the US Embassy in Bangkok. At Georgetown, I hope to combine concentrations in International Economics/ Business as well as Politics/ Security to transition to a career in political, international trade or international development consulting."
