"I was drawn to the MASIA program for multiple reasons. Among the most important being its emphasis on language study and developing a global competence for the region. As someone coming from a humanities background, particularly one that celebrated foreign language study I saw this program as the perfect home for me to be able to explore and develop additional skills while also maintaining my personal interests. This past year I was awarded the Thomas R. Pickering Froeign Affairs Fellowship which has afforded me the wonderful opportunity to study here at Georgetown while also preparing me for a career in the American Foreign Service."
