Sophie Wright
Class of 2025
“I started the MASIA program in Fall 2020 and for over the past two years, I’ve been living and studying at intensive language programs in Taipei, Taiwan and Seoul, South Korea during the middle of my master’s degree. My academic interests in Mandarin Chinese and Korean, East and Southeast Asian histories, and U.S. international education policy in Asia stem from coursework on imperialism and colonialism in Asia as well as personal experiences growing up as a Chinese American adoptee and participating in fellowship programs like Fulbright, Boren, and CLS. After graduating from Georgetown University, I aspire to work for the U.S. Department of State in order to facilitate more cross-cultural exchange programs between the U.S. and Asia and to increase access and equity in international education. ”
