With the rapid deterioration of press freedom in Asia, many seasoned and experienced journalists who have accumulated decades of knowledge of sensitive areas of Asia have lost their jobs after the closing of independent media outlets. In Fall 2022, Georgetown University is pleased to offer a fellowship for up to two seasoned Hong Kong journalists who are still committed to journalism to visit the US to conduct research and to engage with policymakers, the US media, NGOs and think tanks. This year’s fellowship program aims to support independent media in Asia by helping fellows to explore the future prospects of Hong Kong’s media landscape as well as explore new directions for their careers in media.
