Amelia Harrington graduated from Columbia University in 2026 with a B.A. in Political Science and a concentration in East Asian Languages and Cultures. She is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, and received a spot on Columbia College Dean’s List during her freshman, junior, and senior years. She also received the Keiko Chevray Award for Japanese Language, an East Asian Languages and Cultures Departmental Honors prize for graduating students. She has had her writing about East Asian politics and national energy transitions published in the Columbia Political Review and the Columbia Policy Journal undergraduate publications. She also served as the director of the Columbia Political Union’s Reachout Initiative, connecting low-income NYC high school students with summer internships and college admissions guidance. She has an intermediate proficiency in Japanese, and is interested in further building her language skills while at SFS. Amelia’s research interests include East Asian nationalist movements, regional diplomatic relations, and climate change mitigation policy in the Asia-Pacific, which she aims to pursue in greater depth at the MASIA program. In her free time, she enjoys working on her creative writing projects and visiting museums and cultural institutions in her hometown of NYC.
