Gianna Limarvin graduated from the University of Michigan in 2026 with a B.A. in International Studies, concentrating on international security, norms, and cooperation with a regional specialization in Southeast Asia. She completed a senior thesis on religious rhetoric and political violence in 1960s Indonesia, after having been awarded the $10,000 LSA Honors Summer Fellowship to support her undergraduate research. Her honors include the 2026 Boren Scholarship for study in Indonesia, the William J. Branstrom Prize, and the University of Michigan Center for Southeast Asian Studies’ Best Language Award in Indonesian and competitive Indonesian Language Scholarship. Committed to making scholarship public-facing, she served as a Public Humanities Intern at the University of Michigan’s Institute for the Humanities, developing programming for broad campus and community audiences, and was selected to the National Humanities Leadership Council. With working proficiency in Indonesian, her interests lie in U.S. defense strategy and security partnerships across the Indo-Pacific. Following graduation, she will enter the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant.
