Lashyn Zeiin completed her BA in Political Science and International Relations at Nazarbayev University from Kazakhstan on a full state scholarship, where she also served as President of the Association of Political Science Students.
Her professional experience spans diplomacy, policy research and international organizations. She has interned and worked full time at Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Senate of the Parliament, worked as a liaison officer as well, and currently at the British Embassy in Astana. Previously, she worked as a National Consultant at IOM (UN Migration), supporting the Kazakhstan government on labour mobility policy. She also worked at local think tank as a research analyst.
Lashyn is also a co-author of an ongoing research project examining how Gen Z narratives around the Belt and Road Initiative circulate across Chinese, Kazakh, and Russian social media. Beyond academia and work, she has represented Kazakhstan at youth forums in China and Central Asia. She speaks Kazakh, Chinese, English, Russian and Persian.
