Professor Diana Kim, Assistant Professor in the Asian Studies Program, was recently awarded a 2020 Silvers Grant from the Robert B. Silvers Foundation/New York Review of Books for a book-in progress on the vexed legacies of European colonialism and Japanese wartime empire upon Southeast Asia today. It is part of a large project exploring how transnational entanglements of empire, war, and migration during the 20th century have shaped the lives of marginalized communities across Asia.
