Yohan Moon

Yohan Moon is an accomplished individual with a diverse academic, professional, and military background. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the School of International Service (SIS) and Asian Studies from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at American University, with a minor in Korean. Additionally, he completed the Study Abroad International Relations Program at Yonsei University's Underwood International College (UIC). Currently, Yohan serves as a Staff Assistance Intern at the Korea Center of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (WWICS) in Washington, DC, where he supports programmatic and administrative tasks, assists with virtual and on-site conferences and workshops, and prepares social media campaigns. His role also involves researching and monitoring political and economic developments in the Indo-Pacific region and drafting foreign policy summaries. Previously, Yohan was a Marketing & Communication Outreach Intern at the Family Counseling Center of Greater Washington (FCCGW) from November 2022 to November 2023. In this role, he connected with various Asian American organizations to promote mental health awareness, managed content creation for social media campaigns, and coordinated marketing efforts with the Asian American Student Association at Georgetown. He also served as the Master of Ceremony at the annual sponsor and donorship event. On campus, Yohan has demonstrated his leadership and teaching skills as an A.U. Core Curriculum Leader for the KOR-205 course in Spring 2024 and as a Teaching Assistant to Professor Hey Young Shin from January 2024 to May 2024. He also worked as a Korean Teacher and Front Desk Manager at The Center for Language Exploration from September 2022 to May 2023. Yohan's military service in the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) as a Senior Interpreter and Military Policy Specialist from 2018 to 2020 further showcases his dedication and expertise in leadership. He translated defense documents, provided real-time translations during critical operations, and successfully mediated cultural disputes between ROKAF and U.S. soldiers. His leadership was recognized with two honorable coins from the U.S. forces Korea OSAN airbase military police 51st fighter wing Commander and the Mustang command chief. Additionally, he organized and successfully completed the annual visit of the ROK Foreign Minister, educated U.S. enlisted airmen about Korean politics, society, and cultural norms, and oversaw and led 1,500 ROKAF airman candidates during basic training camp. As the Founder and President of the Korean International Scholar Association (KKISA) at American University, Yohan has fostered a supportive community for international Korean students, organizing monthly networking events with professionals and expanding participation through cultural exchange initiatives. His leadership has resulted in a 90% increase in event participation, fostering cultural exchange and establishing strong networking opportunities for students and faculty. In August 2023, Yohan assisted South Korean President Yoon Seok-Yeol's cabinet by directly assisting the secretary of Public Engagement of the Republic of Korea (ROK) during the Trilateral Summit. He provided D.C. location and language interpretation assistance to the Secretary of ROK Public Engagement and offered logistical support to the Press Center in Washington, D.C., aiding the ROK Presidential Traveling Press Corps covering the summit.
