The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University is pleased to announce that the Asian Studies Program has been awarded the U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship for the third time, securing funding for the 2018-2022 academic years. These fellowships are awarded to students pursuing advanced language study of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese and are designed to increase the number of U.S. East Asia area specialists in government, diplomacy, business, higher education, and non-profit sectors. Academic year fellowships offer tuition assistance of $18,000 and include a $15,000 stipend to Georgetown graduate students focused on East Asia regional and language studies. All awardees of the FLAS Fellowship must complete one language course and one area studies course per semester for a grade.
