Bringing the world’s leading scholars on Asia to the Hilltop.

The UTStarcom Distinguished Lecture Series on Asia is Georgetown’s banner headline series for featuring the best scholars and scholarship on Asia. A monthly event open to all members of the Georgetown community, the Series aims to provide a platform for some of the newest work by senior scholars and “rising stars.” Whether it is a new pathbreaking article in a disciplinary journal or a forthcoming book, the authors are hosted on campus by Asian Studies for a formal lecture followed by continued informal discussions over a social evening in Georgetown. This Series seeks in particular to provide scholars from outside the Washington DC area the chance to present their work to the varied audience of academics, policy experts, international media, and policymakers that is often in attendance on the Hilltop. Scholarship featured in this series has ranged on topics as diverse as historical apologies in Asia, the future of India, and climate change in Asia.
